RELAY FOR LIFE DUNEDIN

The Cancer Society takes the health and well-being of our communities seriously. In response to COVID-19 we have decided to postpone our Relay For Life events scheduled between now and the 6th April. We would like to thank all our event participants, volunteers and staff for the huge amount of work that has been done to plan and manage these events so far. We look forward to announcing new event dates when we can.

What is Relay for Life?

Relay for Life is an inspirational and super fun event for everyone of all fitness levels, during which we celebrate with survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and come together as a community to fight back against cancer.  Teams camp out and take turns walking/running around a track for 24 hours while enjoying a festival-like atmosphere of live music, entertainment and activities, all with a fantastic community spirit.

Why do we need you?

Not only is it an amazing event, Relay for Life is also a vital fundraiser for the Cancer Society’s work in Otago and Southland. This work includes providing support services to people in your community who have been affected by cancer, promoting health messages to reduce the number of people who get cancer, and funding vital research about the prevention and treatment of cancer.

How do you get involved?

Tell your friends, family whanau, work colleagues and get a team together now!

Registration is only $20pp (and $10 extra for a new design Relay for Life t-shirt) and there is a minimum requirement of 10 people per team.  Team captains can register first and CREATE A TEAM and they can then invite team members OR individuals can register themselves and add to a team later. Registration includes:

  • Entry to the event
  • Candlebag and candle
  • 24 hours of entertainment
  • Hot breakfast on Sunday

Your fundraising efforts will make a real difference.  To make fundraising for us even easier, we've partnered with Everyday Hero to give you the ability to create your own online fundraising page. In just minutes you can build and customise your page, then start sharing the link with your friends, family and colleagues and asking them to make a donation. Every donation is then recorded on your fundraising page along with a message of support from your donors. So what are you waiting for? Create your own online fundraising page today!

Whether you are a cancer survivor, a carer, a supporter or simply want to make a difference, Relay for Life empowers everyone involved. We hope to see you there!

Please contact Tracey Fleet (email info@cansoc.org.nz or ph 03 477 7447) if you have any questions.

Cancer Society Otago & Southland Division

Your donation supports the work of the Cancer Society here in Otago and Southland. The aim of the Cancer Society is to reduce the risk of cancer through health promotion, provide free support services and information for people and their families affected by cancer, and fund cancer research.

One in three New Zealanders will be affected by cancer in their lifetime. Your support ensures that we can reduce the risk of cancer by building healthy communities and by being there when people need us, so that no one goes through cancer alone.

Cancer Society of New Zealand, Otago and Southland Division Incorporated is a registered charity under the Charities Act 2005, registration number CC23699.
